Selamat Datang! A2K Media are pleased to announce that the Australian Malaysian Film Festival (AMFF) is returning after an outstanding and successful first and second year. For more information, please check out www.malaysiaweek.com.au On Facebook? Become a fan of the festival! http://tinyurl.com/AMFFfanpage The Australian Malaysian Film Festival gratefully acknowledges wonderful support from FINAS (National Film Development Corporation Malaysia) in making this event possible.
This marquee event provides the opportunity to again see some of Malaysia’s latest and best films, and facilitate the understanding and interest of Malaysian society, history and culture from stories told through Malaysian eyes – and cover ides and themes as rich and varied as Malaysian life and culture itself.
The launch event promises a fantastic Malaysian experience which includes wonderful cuisine, music, dance, special guests, batik displays - and of course the opening film.
This festival has returned this year as part of "Malaysia Week" which is a collaboration of a series of exciting events.
Our Mission The festival this year will highlight the unity within diversity between Malaysia and Australia through films especially chosen to show a predominantly young student Australian audience. The event will be launched on a Sunday evening with films continuing to be screened on the subsequent Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and therefore friendlier for school visits. This year’s Australian Malaysian Film Festival will be dedicated to the memory and legacy of Yasmin Ahmad, who tragically passed away very recently. We will be both opening and closing the festival with her films to celebrate her world class body of work, which was always rich in substance and even richer in integrity. We are very proud to have known her personally as a friend. As a now established and respected community arts event, and with previous objectives accomplished through the successful Australian Malaysian Film Festivals in both 2007 and 2008, AMFF 2009 seeks to further strengthen the event's brand, market profile and bilateral effectiveness.
AMFF 2009 will collaborate even more closely with FINAS (National Film Development Corporation Malaysia) to present even higher quality and quantity of content, the attendance of the featured film's makers, as well as more ancillary Malaysian cultural elements.
AMFF 2009 strives to make the festival more conducive for students studying Malaysian language, culture and history, and thereby facilitating a continued "next generational" bond of cultural bilateral ties.
